Equipment is collected in the afternoon and returned in the morning. It may be possible to arrange other times, but this is strictly by prior arrangement. All our equipment is maintained, checked and prepared by BBC trained operators.
The Hire Return date on the paperwork is the day we expect to have the equipment back.
We are based in the Centre of Birmingham and can deliver and collect hire equipment, but you need to let us know when you book your hire. This service is chargeable according to your distance from us.
Collection equipment must be de-rigged and ready for us to collect as your return date is often the collection date for our next customer.
We can supply technicians to rig the equipment and get it working for you; we’ll even operate it for you if you want. Please ask for a quote when you get in touch.
You are responsible for insuring the equipment you hire from us against loss or accidental damage whilst it is in your possession. This is from the moment it leaves our premises to when it is signed back in.
If you need to arrange insurance cover we would suggest contacting one of the companies below:
Allan Chapman & James - Insurance Brokers - 01206 500000

Media Dog Hire will be glad to provide you with the total replacement value of your ordered kit and any other information required for insurance purposes.
1. Cables must be returned neatly coiled and taped (using PVC tape - not sellotape, masking tape or parcel tape) - in the same style as you received them, if you're not sure how to coil the cables, please ask one of us to show you.
2. We always have gaffer tape and PVC tape in stock - don't forget that cables not taped down could cost you money in compensation or expensive repairs!
3. If you're not sure how a piece of equipment works - then please ask, we'd rather that you are able to use it on your hire. It's easy to show you when you collect rather than over the 'phone.
4. We don't always provide spare lamps - some customers just lose them and we feel a bit mean charging for them. If you want to take spare lamps, then please say when you collect or book your hire.
5. All our equipment is maintained, checked and prepared by BBC trained operators, but we know things break down. Please don't be reluctant to ring us during your hire - we want your shoot to work so that you'll come back again, you can call us during office hours or 'out of hours'.
Don't be afraid to say when you return the kit if you had a problem - we may not know otherwise.
5a. You shouldn't need to use a screwdriver to change lamps in most of our basic lighting kits - we don't believe in making it difficult for you! If you're unsure what to do - then please call us before you start dismantling things!
Our hire radio microphones are not supplied with fresh batteries unless requested. As a rule of thumb each radio microphone will use one set of batteries per performance or every 2-3 hours use.
Our Lanterns and cables come supplied with stands and 16amp plugs and sockets with jumpers to take them to domestic 13amp sockets. Lanterns do not come supplied with gels or spare lamps, but are they available on request.
