Media Dog were delighted to attend the grand re-opening of Digbeth Loc Studios in Birmingham.
The landmark development in central Birmingham has seen ex council warehouse buildings converted into a modern, well designed studio space for a range of Film and TV Production. Spearheaded by Peaky Blinders creator Stephen Knight, the studio will house a range of new productions from Stephen Knight’s production company Kudos Knight, with large sections of the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie already being filmed there prior to it’s official opening.

Media Dog have supported productions of all sizes in Birmingham since 2004, so being at this landmark event was a huge honour and it was fantastic to see a huge buzz about the Film and TV production industry here.

West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker was also in attendance, after working hard on bringing the project to Birmingham.

As reported by Gurdhip Thandi for BirminghamWorld, over the course of around five to six months, Mr Parker held meetings with Peaky Blinders’ creator Steven Knight and leaders of West Midlands councils.

He said he was keen to come to an agreement to make it economically viable to film in Birmingham and stop it going elsewhere. With the production of the next two series of Peaky Blinders now taking place in Digbeth Loc. Studios, it marks the first time the series set in Birmingham will be filmed in the city.
Mr Parker said the region will benefit to the tune of hundreds of millions as a result of the production.
