Laowa 10mm T2.9 Zero-D Cine FF (PL Mount)

Super Wide Angle Full Frame Cine Lens

The Laowa 10mm f/2.8 Zero-D FF is an ultra-wide full-frame PL-Mount lens offering an impressive 130.4° field of view, while keeping straight lines looking straight rather than introducing the barrel distortion normally associated with lenses this wide. Despite its extreme wide-angle coverage, it remains surprisingly compact and lightweight at just 420g. Covering Full Frame at 10mm without distortion, this lens really is something special.

A 10mm lens is particularly useful when you need to fit a lot into the frame, whether that’s a tight interior, architecture, landscape or an establishing shot. Unlike many ultra-wide lenses, the Laowa uses a rectilinear optical design, meaning it keeps distortion to a minimum rather than giving you the curved, fisheye appearance you might expect at this focal length. This makes it particularly useful for commercial shoots where keeping vertical and horizontal lines looking natural is important.

One of the biggest advantages of this lens is just how small it is. At only 420g, it’s considerably easier to carry around or use on a gimbal than many other ultra-wide full-frame lenses. It’s also a useful option for smaller camera builds where you want an extremely wide field of view without adding much weight to the setup.

The f/2.8 aperture makes it more practical in lower light than many ultra-wide zooms, while also making it a good choice for night photography and astrophotography. It can focus as close as 12cm, which gives you the option of getting very close to a subject while retaining a huge amount of the surrounding environment in the frame.

The Laowa 10mm is also unusual in that it accepts standard 77mm screw-in filters, something that isn’t always possible with ultra-wide lenses due to their bulbous front elements. This makes it easier to use ND and polarising filters without needing a large specialist filter system.

If you’re looking for a wide angle lens hire option that goes much wider than a conventional 16mm or 14mm lens, but without the distortion and bulk often associated with fisheye lenses, the Laowa 10mm is well worth considering.
