The GoPro Media Mod is a smart accessory for your GoPro action-cam that elevates its capability, especially if you’re doing vlogging, live streaming or multi-camera setups. It essentially wraps your camera and adds a number of ports and mounts — most notably a micro-HDMI port, a USB-C power port, and a 3.5mm mic input.

What makes it particularly useful is that it allows you to power your GoPro via USB-C and at the same time send a video feed via the micro-HDMI out to a monitor or external device. Without the Media Mod, most GoPro models only have the USB-C port, so you cannot do both at once.

It also adds a built-in directional microphone (shotgun style) onto the unit, which is much better than the GoPro’s built-in standard mic particularly for dialogue, and automatically disables when the 3.5mm audio jack is plugged in (meaning the external mic takes priority).

It adds a shoe to the top so that you can easily mount a 3.5mm mic onto the top, but you can also use this shoe to mount a small Top Light or similar useful accessory.
